BRINGING TOGETHERNESS COMPANY WIDE

For a business where health and wellbeing is not only a part of the service provided, but a huge part of the culture and working environment, challenges can still be presented in engaging a large workforce. Especially one spread across a number of floors within a building, made up of many different teams and thousands of employees.

Having the brightly decorated modern office, an open plan environment to encourage collaboration and instil togetherness are all  positive impacts but how do you maintain a positive and energetic working environment?

Looking for new and lasting ways to engage a workforce of over 2,500 across four floors, BUPA Healthcare in Salford Quays, Manchester engaged Fun At Work to bring something that would do just that with their fresh variety of accessible, purposeful fun.

“It made work more enjoyable…creating a more positive and more energetic environment.”

Employee Feedback

EMPLOYEES ACROSS THE COMPANY EMBRACED IT

Originally kept as a surprise from teams across the company, Fun At Work were invited to meet with the Management Team to ensure that this new investment would benefit the company as a whole. It would…

After the first 3 months Fun At Work were invited back to meet with employees and gather feedback. The initial vibe on return was that this new investment had been received well, very well. Originally intended to have one piece of equipment on each of the four floors, BUPA decided to keep all four pieces within the same space on one floor. Naturally people would navigate toward the area, engaging with other employees and teams they wouldn’t  necessarily see on a day to day, bridging those Silos.

Employees were embracing this new initiative; “It brings us closer together”; “Great to see physical activity in a fun way”; “Get’s you away from your desk for a proper break”; “It has boosted morale and made work more fun”.

HEALTH BENEFITS – BOTH MENTAL & PHYSICAL

Not only seeing the benefits of bringing togetherness to the business, benefits – both mental and physical – were being seen. Locating the equipment as they did, encouraged that physical movement away from a desk space.

As one employee fed back, “It’s funny because it actually stopped me nipping out and smoking so much, so it’s been good for my health too”.

As one other employee commented “…the games have brought people together. We enjoyed having tournaments because when we just had a table tennis it was the same group of, mainly men, who played it” Fun At Work has helped introduced inclusivity among team members, with each piece of equipment accessible to all in it’s use and it’s appeal of team building and involvement.
